The firm was designed to apply rigorous economic and statistical methods to complex questions involving monetary policy, fiscal policy, sovereign debt, currencies, commodities and global capital markets. Astant Global Management expanded rapidly, building a specialised international team during its first year of operations and working at the intersection of economics, quantitative finance and strategic advisory.

Following the growth of his first company, Marcos founded the Renaissance Europe Institute, an independent European think tank focused on strengthening Europe’s economic, political and strategic capacity.

Through policy research, public events, expert interviews and institutionangagement, the Institute seeks to influence the debate surrounding European monetary and fiscal policy, financial integration, industrial competitiveness, energy security, defence and foreign affairs.

Marcos’ work is driven by the belief that economic analysis should not remain confined to academia or financial institutions, but should contribute directly to the design of more effective public policies and to the development of a stronger, more competitive and strategically independent Europe.
